NCGA Welcomes Olson as New Energy Policy Director (8-9-06)
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) today announced Emily Olson has joined the organization as director of public policy for Ethanol, Energy and Renewable Products. Olson will be responsible for legislative and regulatory affairs concerning ethanol, energy and economic analysis, natural gas, climate change, in addition to advocating for biobased products.
“We’re very excited to have Emily join our staff,” said Jon Doggett, NCGA vice president of public policy. “Emily brings significant legislative experience to our lobbying efforts and has a true passion for advancing the key issues important to the future of the corn industry and corn growers.”
“I am very excited to be joining the team at NCGA,” said Olson. “I look forward to representing the interests of our growers and moving forward key policies that better the future of the corn industry. Our future is in energy and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead and the role NCGA will be playing in energy development.”
Prior to joining NCGA, Olson served as senior legislative assistant for Rep. Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.) covering agriculture, energy and transportation issues since January 2005. Olson also was legislative assistant for Lipinski’s predecessor (and father) William Lipinski from February 2003 to January 2005. Prior to her career on Capitol Hill, she served on the Transition Team for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Emily attended Loyola University in Chicago where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude. She also attended the University of Brighton in England studying British Public Policy. |
