NCGA-sponsored AgriTalk Ethanol Pump Tour to Stop Twice in South Dakota (7-26-06)
The AgriTalk Ethanol Pump Tour, sponsored by the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA), makes two stops in South Dakota this week. The South Dakota Corn Utilization Council (SDCUC) will be promoting the use of ethanol as a fuel source at both locations.
AgriTalk host Mike Adams will broadcast live from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. both days and you can catch him pumping fuel at one of the stations. South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds will be present at the Pierre station.
The first stop is Thursday, July 27, at the BP in Brookings and is hosted by VeraSun Energy. The station will sell VE85TM, VeraSun’s brand of E85, for $1.85 for 185 minutes from 10 a.m. to 1:05 p.m. Local Ford and GM dealers will have flex-fuel vehicles on display, and the VeraSun-sponsored GP Auto dragster will also be on hand. The station is located at just off I-29 at 2420 6th St.
The second stop is Friday, July 28 at the Cowboy Country Store in Pierre. Ethanol-blended gas will be reduced 30 cents a gallon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Adams will pump fuel.
“We are thrilled that Mike Adams and Governor Rounds will be promoting ethanol in South Dakota this week,” said Clint Vanneman, corn producer from Ideal, S.D., and SDCUC board member. “The AgriTalk Ethanol Pump Tour promotions are an excellent way to demonstrate the benefits of ethanol and its impact in local communities. By offering 'full service' pumping at gas stations and in talking with motorists about ethanol, we are able to educate and inform them about these positive benefits.”
At the Pierre stop, several additional activities are planned. The SDCUC will run a “SD Corn Safari” promotion, in which participants can be entered into a drawing, to be held Jan. 6, 2007, to win three prizes, including a two-year lease on a Chevrolet Silverado, a trip for two and $1,200 in free ethanol-blended gas. Those taking part in the promotion the day of the pump tour will exclusively be eligible to win one of four separate prizes of $100 in ethanol-blended gas that day.
Dakota Radio Group will also broadcast live during the Pierre event. AgriTalk is a regularly featured program on Dakota Radio Group’s station, KGFX.
