Dorr Tabbed as Keynote Speaker at CUTC (6-2-06)

U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Tom Dorr will present the keynote address at the National Corn Growers Association’s Corn Utilization and Technology Conference June 5-7 in Dallas.

“As a corn farmer, Under Secretary Dorr understands the importance of creating value-added markets for corn,” said NCGA CEO Rick Tolman. “He has always been an advocate for corn growers and U.S. farmers and has been very successful in securing funding and support for rural development. CUTC helps corn growers discover potential new markets for corn. His selection as speaker fits well with the message of this conference. We are anxious to hear his message at CUTC.”

Said Dorr, "America's 21st century corn growers are creating new and exciting economic opportunities for our nation's rural communities and residents.. Not only do they continue to fill their traditional role, feeding America and the world, they are utilizing state of the art technologies to help to bring greater energy security to our nation.”

CUTC, held every other year, is the premier technology conference about corn and its related products. The theme of this year’s conference is “Corn: Nature’s Sustainable Resource,” which recognizes corn’s role in moving the world to a carbohydrate economy.

Sessions at this year’s event include: dry grind processing technologies, the impact of biotechnology on ethanol production, distillers grains use in livestock diets and value-added products and new uses. For a complete agenda and conference details, visit www.corntechconf.org.
