Schott Pledges to Represent Corn Growers Equally, Improve Corn Industry (6-16-06)

If elected to the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Corn Board, Bart Schott promises to represent corn growers from all states equally and fairly. His goals are to increase corn production in new areas of the nation, promote fair trade and ethanol and improve crop insurance coverage. He looks forward to planning the vision of NCGA.

One thing that draws me is the opportunity to represent corn growers throughout our membership base,” said Schott. “I believe I can be fair and see the whole scope of NCGA and its mission to serve its members.”

Schott and his family raise no-till corn, soybeans and small grains in Kulm, N.D. Schott also runs a seed business. On the national level, he has served as a member of NCGA’s Research and Business Development Action Team for four years. On the local level, Schott was the vice chair of the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council and a member of the North Dakota Livestock and Research Action Team and the Dickey County Crop Improvement Association.

He believes Corn Board members should be committed to promoting the corn industry, assisting new corn growers in planning and production and striving to keep insurance issues on track. He also believes in expanding trade and the ethanol industry.

Schott said NCGA has done a great job in getting its voice heard on Capitol Hill and in cooperating with other national organizations to create opportunities for corn growers. He has made several visits to national and state political offices on behalf of NCGA and the North Dakota Corn Growers Association.

“When I decide to do something, I become very committed to it,” Schott said. “My record proves that on the Research and Business Development Action Team. The team has exposed me to different states’ ideas. We work together as a team and get projects going. It’s a good experience working with all the states.”

Delegates to NCGA’s Corn Congress July 12-13 in Washington, D.C., will vote on five  new members for the Corn Board.
