Pump Tour Stops in Kansas Friday; Drivers to Fill Up on E85 for $1.85 (5-11-06)
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) sponsored AgriTalk Pump Tour stops in Great Bend, Kan., Friday and flexible fuel vehicle (FFV) drivers can fill up and save on reduced E85 prices.
The Golden Belt 66 station at 10th and Main Street, will be selling E85 for $1.85 from 9 a.m. to noon. Friday’s event is hosted by the Kansas Corn Commission, which will give away prizes to FFV drivers when they fill up with E85.
Ken McCauley, NCGA first vice president, said Kansans are working hard at encouraging the use of E85. He also noted legislation and education are key in advancing the ethanol industry and bringing E85 to everyone.
“There are nine E85 pumps across the state, and we are planning on bringing 20 more pumps to the area in the near future,” said McCauley. “Kansans take pride in doing their part to advance the use of ethanol. The pump tour is a great opportunity to build public awareness of ethanol, E85 and flexible fuel vehicles. In recent weeks, ethanol has been the subject of many discussions. Consumers need to be educated on the real benefits renewable fuels can have and these tours do just that.”
