As Congress Returns, NCGA Calls for WRDA Passage (11-13-06)
The effort to pass the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) enters the next phase this week with the “Ring for WRDA” call in campaign. The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is urging its nearly 33,000 corn grower members to contact their representatives and senators office during the “WRDA Call-In” campaign and encourage them to pass WRDA. In addition, NCGA is encouraging calls into the offices of WRDA conferees.
NCGA, joined by more than 250 organizations launched the second advertisement today, is calling for passage of the long-overdue bill.
WRDA, legislation which is now six years overdue, includes authorization to construct seven 1,200 foot locks on the Upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers. NCGA and a diverse coalition of more than 300 organizations support the legislation.
To let Congress know you want WRDA passed now, call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 to call your senator or representative.
