NCGA Accepting Applications for Corn Board (10-18-06)
Looking for an opportunity to be a leader for one of the most prestigious agriculture trade associations? The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Nominating Committee invites all corn grower members to become an integral part of the organization’s leadership by applying for the Corn Board.
Newly elected board members will begin service on Oct. 1, 2007 for Fiscal Year 2008.
“The corn industry has the opportunity to really make significant changes for the future,” said Gerald Tumbleson, NCGA chairman and Nominating Committee chairman. “There are a lot of things happening, and we must have growers who can bring enthusiasm and creativity to the board in order to expand the future of the carbohydrate economy. Our members continue to represent corn growers successfully on both a national and international scale. Being on the Corn Board also means working to enhance our industry and representing the needs of the grassroots.”
There are four three-year terms open on the Corn Board and one opening that will fill the unexpired term of the Corn Board member who will be ratified as NCGA’s first vice president in July 2007.
The Nominating Committee will review candidate applications in January 2007 followed by a Nominating Committee Report that will list the slate of nominated candidates, biographical information and an explanation of the voting process.
Nominated candidates will be introduced at the Corn Congress meeting during the 2007 Commodity Classic in Tampa, Fla., with elections taking place at the July 2007 meeting of the NCGA Corn Congress in Washington, D.C.
Members of the Nominating Committee are Corn Board Chairman Gerald Tumbleson, Keith Witt, Warren Kemper, John Tibbits and Bill Jenkins.
Applications must be sent to Kathy Baker in the NCGA St. Louis office. The deadline for applications is Jan. 12, 2007.
