NCGA Reminds Members of Registration Deadline for Advancing Renewable Energy Conference (9-27-06)
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) reminds growers the early registration Oct. 1 deadline is rapidly approaching for the Advancing Renewable Energy Conference in St. Louis Oct. 10-12.
Registration is $495 through Oct. 1. It bumps up to $595 from Oct. 2-9. Registering at the conference will cost $695.
NCGA President Ken McCauley, CEO Rick Tolman and members of NCGA’s Research and Business Development staff are attending the event, which is jointly hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The conference will bring together key stakeholders in biofuels, wind, solar and other renewable energy sources. NCGA is a sponsor of the event and will have a booth on the exhibit floor.
McCauley is urging growers in the Midwest to take a day or two away from the fields in order to attend.
“NCGA has a prominent role in this event, and a strong contingent of NCGA members would indicate to conference participants how important our association and its members view renewable fuels as an integral part of the United States’ future,” said McCauley.
Tolman will be master of ceremonies for the first day of the conference, which will feature keynote addresses by Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns and Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman.
President George W. Bush’s call to increase the United States’ renewable energy capabilities spurred the formation of the conference. The president’s Advanced Energy Initiative calls for increasing ethanol production, expanding access to wind energy through technology, and making solar photovoltaic technology cost competitive by 2015.
McCauley said it is a great opportunity for growers to meet government officials and help to shape energy policy.
