NCGA Poised for New Fiscal Year with Officer Rotation, Naming of Action Teams (9-29-06)
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) begins its new fiscal year Oct. 1, signaling a new chapter in leadership and kicking off the start of its 50th anniversary. Ken McCauley, a farmer from White Cloud, Kan., will take the reins as NCGA President leading the 32,000-member organization as it begins its 50th year.
“I am honored to serve NCGA’s members, especially during the association’s golden anniversary,” said McCauley. “For 50 years, NCGA has been the leading agricultural association, and I look forward to leading our members and continuing NCGA’s tradition.”
McCauley recently selected grower leaders for NCGA’s action teams and committees, and he said NCGA’s producers have plenty on the table to accomplish this year.
“We’ve got an excellent lineup of teams and committee members to address all the things happening at NCGA,” said McCauley. “The farm bill is the number one item on our agenda, but we also have to continue to promote ethanol and value-added opportunities and push for WRDA passage. The ‘action’ in ‘action team’ has more meaning that ever before.”
Also on Oct. 1, Gerald Tumbleson becomes chairman and Ron Litterer becomes first vice president. Two new Corn Board members will take seats on the board: Mark Schwiebert and Guy Davenport. Leon Corzine’s term as chairman expires Oct. 1, as does the term of Corn Board member Charles Alexander, who has served the maximum of six years on the board.
“NCGA appreciates the work Leon and Charles have put into making our association the leading commodity organization. We know they will still be active participants as we chart our course for the next 50 years,” McCauley said. “I would also like to thank Gerald Tumbleson for his hard work and dedication in leading NCGA the past year, and I look forward to working with him for the coming year as we try to create and increase more opportunities for corn growers.”
