Ethanol Paper Takes One More Look at Net Energy Balance, NCGA notes(2-7-07)
Arguments over the net energy of ethanol versus other fuels miss the point, according to a new paper by Bruce E. Dale, professor of chemical engineering at Michigan State University.
The National Corn Growers Association notes with interest that Dale says the net energy controversy surround ethanol is a false argument. He points out all energy sources need to be evaluated for their suitability to particular uses. For example, he explains, it is pointless to compare coal against ethanol to power vehicles.
Dale’s paper “Thinking Clearly About Biofuels: Ending the Silly Net Energy Controversy” offers a balanced perspective to use when evaluating energy sources. To read his paper, click here.
