NCGA Leaders Look Ahead to 2008 (1-11-07)
While many of us are still struggling to remember to write “2007” on our checks, the grower-leaders of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) are already developing plans for next year – and beyond.
As representatives of NCGA state member organizations and other grower-leaders gather in St. Louis today and tomorrow to discuss programs and policies, the leaders of the association’s grower committees and working groups are set to report the highlights of 2006 and their goals for the year.
NCGA’s grower committees, which include the Ethanol Committee, Research and Business Development Action Team, Biotechnology Working Group, Production and Stewardship Action Team, Grower Services Action Team, Public Policy Action Team and Joint Trade Policy A-Team, will review current initiatives and begin groundwork for future programs and policies. Audio highlights of these reports are available to all NCGA members.
“Our organization is grower driven and we are lucky to have very active growers. We derive our policy based on the state organizations and our grower leaders and the direction they give us,” said Gerald Tumbleson, NCGA chairman. “NCGA’s grower members are very vocal about the key issues that affect their livelihoods on a daily basis. It is here at these meetings where we develop and direct our policy for legislative, regulatory and research issues.”
