Registration Continues for NCGA Trade and Farm Policy Conference (1-25-07)

Registration is underway for the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Trade and Farm Policy Conference Feb. 21 – 22 at the Renaissance Hotel at the Airport in St. Louis. Deadline for registration is Jan. 31.

The conference is a forum for growers to learn about the upcoming farm bill and related trade topics and discuss issues with experts.

“This is a very important year for corn growers,” said Bob Bowman, chairman of NCGA’s Joint Trade Policy Action Team and a host of the conference. “Events in Washington and market opportunities are changing rapidly. NCGA members need to be up to speed, and we need to get their input. This is a great opportunity for state and county leaders to discuss the latest policy and market dynamics and to take that information back to their communities in advance of 2007 planting season.”

In addition to sessions on the farm bill and other legislation, the conference will cover such as trade and the latest information on market supply and demand.

Activities kick off with a 6 p.m. reception on Feb. 21. On Feb 22 a full day information and discussion begins with a continental breakfast at 7 a.m. The agenda includes:

  • 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Market Dynamics: Supply & Demand Update, speaker: Paul Bertels, NCGA Director of Biotechnology
  • 8:30 – 10 a.m. Commodity Title: Farm Bill Update and Discussion, speakers: Steve Pigg, Chairman, NCGA Public Policy Action Team; Bruce Babcock, Ag Risk Management LLC
