Corn Board Member Haack Seeks Re-election, Experienced in Biotech and Ethanol (6-20-08)
On Fridays leading up to the July 16 election at the Corn Congress meeting in Washington, D.C., the National Corn Growers Association will profile a Corn Board candidate. The profiles are provided in alphabetical order.
Daryl Haack, of Primghar, Iowa, is running for re-election to the NCGA Corn Board, and currently serves as its liaison to the NCGA Biotechnology Working Group. He is a former member and chairman of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, and grows 400 acres of corn and 400 acres of soybeans with his wife, Alyda.
“As a midsize farmer with experience on a checkoff board, I feel I bring a little different viewpoint to the board,” Haack said. “Also, I would like to continue to use my experience with ethanol – and, now, the Biotech Working Group -- to help corn growers in today's fast moving world.”
Haack said he believes he has been, and can continue to be, a good representative of all corn growers. He believes Corn Board members should represent all corn growers to the best of their ability, and especially need to represent NCGA back to the states, maintaining strong ties of communications and funding. Haack’s priorities if re-elected to the board are to continue to and improve research and to continue to work with seed companies in the biotech arena. |
