The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) crop progress report released yesterday shows a three percent increase of corn in excellent condition and a two percent increase of corn in good to excellent condition. Corn in fair condition and above held relatively steady at 89 percent.
USDA also reports two percent of the acreage was at or beyond the silking stage, two points behind last year and the five-year average for this date. The report shows development was most advanced in Texas, where 56 percent of corn was at or beyond the silking stage.
