This week, the National Corn Growers Association sends off Rod Snyder with gratitude for his service and best wishes as he assumes the role of president of Field to Market, The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture. Snyder departs the position of Director of Public Policy after six years to assume leadership and continue that organization’s commitment to continuous improvements in productivity, environmental quality and human well-being across the agricultural supply chain.
Current NCGA Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs Manager Ethan Matthews, who has been with the association for four years, has been promoted to Director of Public Policy and will assume Snyder’s responsibilities upon his departure.
During his tenure at NCGA, Snyder worked closely with the association’s Production and Stewardship Action Team on key issues including government regulations, sustainability initiatives and production practices.
“Rod led our efforts to educate members of Congress on a wide array of issues with concrete impacts on American farmers freedom to operate, working tirelessly as an advocate both for corn growers and for the tools and policies which they need to thrive,” said Jon Doggett, NCGA Vice President of Public Policy. “He was a major asset to the organization both as a dedicated employee and as a vital link on the Hill, given his former role as the President of the Young Democrats of America. While he leaves us, the efforts he launched will continue to benefit corn growers for years to come. He will be sorely missed both as a well-respected colleague and a friend.”
While Snyder leaves the NCGA staff, he will remain a key point of contact for NCGA, which is a member of Field to Market.
“After years of involvement with Field to Market, I’m proud to join the alliance as president,” said Snyder. “Field to Market members are committed to helping provide food, fiber and fuel for 9 billion people across the globe by 2050, while conserving finite natural resources, which is one of the most significant challenges facing our generation.”
The strong, diverse alliance is working to catalyze and promote environment and productivity improvements by establishing long-term goals and broadly applicable metrics to measure progress against those goals. With established metrics and protocols, Field to Market will engage and enable stakeholders across the agricultural supply chain to promote sustainable practices.
